GRADUATE PHARMACY APTITUDE TEST | GPAT | India

GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India for admission into various postgraduate pharmacy courses (M.Pharm). 

Here are some guidelines that students can follow to prepare for GPAT:

• Eligibility Criteria: To appear for GPAT, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry candidates) or must be in the final year of their pharmacy degree program.
•  Exam Pattern: GPAT is a computer-based test (CBT) that consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The exam duration is three hours, and it generally comprises 125 questions carrying a total of 500 marks. The questions cover various areas of pharmaceutical sciences, including pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, and pharmaceutical analysis.
• Understand the exam pattern: The GPAT exam consists of 125 multiple choice questions to be answered in 180 minutes. The questions are divided into four sections - Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
• Get familiar with the syllabus: The GPAT syllabus covers topics related to pharmacy, including physical pharmacy, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, and others. Students should be thorough with the syllabus to prepare effectively for the exam.
• Prepare a study plan: A study plan can help students stay organized and focused while preparing for GPAT. Students should divide their time between learning the concepts, practicing questions, and revising the syllabus.
• Practice mock tests: Practicing mock tests can help students identify their strengths and weaknesses and improve their speed and accuracy. It can also help them get familiar with the exam pattern and gain confidence.
• Read standard textbooks: Students should refer to standard textbooks and study materials to gain a better understanding of the concepts. They should also make notes while studying to revise the topics quickly.
• Stay updated with current affairs: Current affairs related to the pharmaceutical industry can also be a part of the GPAT exam. Students should stay updated with the latest news and trends in the industry to answer such questions correctly.
• Stay healthy: It is essential to take care of one's health while preparing for the exam. Students should take regular breaks, exercise, and eat healthy food to keep themselves physically and mentally fit.
